Tokyo in Winter

I had this wonderful opportunity to Visit Japan a few weeks back. The only drawback was the cold temperatures awaiting us there. This picture was taken in Ginza, which is an upmarket area in Tokyo where all the lovely expensive shops are. I bought socks there. It was freezing and my tights didn't seem to be working so well after 2:00pm in the afternoon.

We must have looked like tourist, cos we got interviewed by a local japanese TV channel. Quizzed about shopping and what we'd bought. Frightfully embarrasing to explain to them the only purchase of the day were SOCKS...and when they wanted to see them..I stuck my legs out in front. Yes about 20 minutes before being interviewed and 1 minute after buying them socks, I had ( literally ) sat at the side of the road to wear my knee lenght socks over my tights....for warmer legs.

Whoever says Japanese are short people lied. As you may be appreciate in this picture.. they're all taller than me

Organic food

Malaysia has quite a bit of organic food shops mushrooming at the oddest places. This is in Damasara Jaya....reason for a trip there was to visit Atria ( rather run down shopping centre) to collect a watch. Why must the watch repairer have a shop this far away from town? The most likely answer is low rental I suppose.

OOoooh nice violin

No, this isn't my violin. It's a friend's. Lucky friend. It sounds gorgeous when you play it. Very bright. And the sounds carries quite far. Not too nice because I don't play all notes in tune ( yet) but imagine this...lovely clear bright notes..echoing down the coridoor.

What a wonderful weekend..shopping

Okay so here's the deal....there's this lovely bookstore in Atria...with books to be bought at bargain prices. It's addictive. Once you're there...the books ( at hugely low prices) are irrisitible. I didn't resist too hard. No point. Oh the shoes were bought somewhere else. But I thought it would complete the picture if I added them to the picture. I can't wait to read my books and wear my shoes. No I don't wish for more feet so I can wear them all at the one go. But I would like tomorrow off...it's tiring shopping.

You might notice Georgette Heyer features quite abit. It was a steal at RM 19:90. The same book at MPH costs RM 49:90. So you can imagine the kick I got when I paid for them. Such a steal. Gervase Phinn was a lucky find two weeks back. The cover looked good. And someone had written it was like James Heriott so I decided to try one. Oh boy oh boy...can the man write. I couldn't put it down.....really enjoyable. So I went back to buy the lot.

My current food obsession

Ms Read does a mean pate. For those of you who like your pate...eerm..."liver-ish". This is it. You'ld like the consistency of it as well as the after taste. It's spreadable, thick....a touch grainy. The ones with wine in them have a bitter after-taste. At least the ones I've tasted. ( And I haven't tasted that many)

Shopping shopping shopping

A very happy birthday to me. This is my first birthday present. It's a lucky charm so it'd better do the job for the entire year. Made in Taiwan...( or is it Korea I forget now..) it's a glow in the dark one. I'm going to wear it to work tomorrow.

Princess Grace

This is what I'm currently reading. Just finished reading the first chapter in the bog.( HAH yes reading in the loo is acceptable practise...writing about it in the blog might'n be thought)

The fair to Middling is one of the many second hand books I bought from Kings Street. It's a little like Alice through the looking glass. ( I was once obsessed with that book and had a spell where I kept rereading the entire book continuosly). This was a good book. I felt a little sorry when i finished it which was at approximately 11:45pm last night.

Happy new YEAR 2008 Folks. I ushered in the new year snoring. Yes not something to be proud of. I fell asleep before twelve midnight. Too much good food made me sleepy. Today being AWAL Muharam...ie a public holiday and an ideal day to shop...I did just that. Bought this old movie.I love Grace Kelly in High Society. She's like an Ice Maiden. So tonight I'm going to watch this....bought if from Speedy for a mereRM 14.90. ( You can see the price in the picture.).

A very happy and blessed Christmas

It's the year end. Thank you very much to all readers of this blog. I'm always touched you bother to comment. Have a merry christmas and a very happy new year 2008. I'll be away from blogging for a week. That's right folks...you heard right. 7 glorious days away from work to be spent in total self indulgence. Now that's the way to wrap up...what was /is a glorious year 2007. Happy holidays!!!

I'm back to reading books

There was a temporary deviation from reading for a while now. There after to be known as the "dark ages". The picture is of the library of Sancta Sophia college, the place I stayed in in Sydney. The college grounds were lovely reminded me of Oxford. ( Not that I'm incredibly familiar with oxford...I went there ONCE and had a quick walk-a-bout absorbing the atmosphere marginally). The more accurate reason why I say it reminded me of Oxford is...because it looked very much like the oxford depicted in them very English movies we see on AsTRO.

Sancta Sophia was founded in 1925. ( So its old ) It's incredibly near Royal Prince Alfred Hospital. Pretty handy for those attending any courses there. The bus service to town and back is a handy plus point. Save on taxi fares. If you walk uphill you get to Kings st...which is a brilliant place as it houses quite a number of second hand bookstores. I know regret not buying more books. DAMM!!

Sydney in Spring

I finally did it. Climbed the Sydney Bridge. On the very first day, after wading though customs ( no body frisking....and bags were opened in the process) we proceeded to the lodgings to dump the bags...and off to town...in particular CHINATOWN for a spot of Yum Cha. The weather was ( unfortunately ) gloomy on arrival and there was a slight chill in the wind. It went right thru the T-shirt and made me think...maybe I should have brought a thicker jumper.

Anyway after food and feeling decidedly more energetic, we made our way down George St ( a very long street) onto Circular Quay....took the obligatory pictures with Sydney Opera House in the background....went to the ROCKS ( bought nothing there...) and finally into the bridge climb office to be gowned up and geared up for the climb. The view was spectacular!!!
