The lure of facebook

Picture from SweetToothFairy

There is surely a cure for the addiction to facebook. I guess the best way is to replace it with another; twitter I hear you say? *shake head* I would if I understood the concept. My understanding is, it's a public platform where you type your thoughts ( or anything you fancy), there's a word limit I forget the number...and you sit back and wait for a zillion comments to come tumbling in. So tell me, what is the attraction?

It's that time of the week....

Well for those of you who have taken time to read this blog, you would have realised that saturday mornings are devoted to frantic intensive violin practise session. It's 8:00am. I leave you now.....to tune the ole machine....and get started on some arpeggios in the minor key. Be back later...

A review of the week

It takes a very special person indeed, to assume that educated,well-spoken,intelligent folks would just sit back and allow themselves and their reputations to be trampled all over. I could elaborate....but I won't. What a week!

As the week ends...

I thought I saw a light at the end of the tunnel, but it was only some fool with a torch bringing me more work! AAAAaaaaaaaaaaaargh!!!

Time to pull up my socks ( figuratively speaking...as the last time I wore socks was a few months ago when I decided to sleep with moisturized toes...didn't last long) and start making the hated to-do-list every morning.

Lost...mini displayPort to VGA adaptor

Reward: My gratitude...and the restoration of my faith in the goodness of mankind.

This is what happens when you have too many wires in the bag. At least 5 thumbdrives, a PDA USB connector, a camera, a couple of SD cards and an ipod with ear phones. I must have left the adaptor behind at the main auditorium two friday's back. What have I learn from this? That the pain of losing it ebbs significantly once you fork out money to replace the missing item.

This has got to stop

First and foremost let me just stress that this is not the norm. I do not ( I repeat) do not spend money frivalously. Keeping the sinking economy afloat is a job for someone bigger, better, richer than I ever aspire to be. *grin* I have a new phone. The old ( and I stress old phone) will be put in the graveyard of OLD used gadgets just as soon as I make time to transfer the contacts over. Doesn't it look sleek and nice? A few hiccups, the first few sms-s were painfully slow and resulted in me abandoning the entire task and calling the person up instead. I missed at least 2 important sms-s and a couple of less important calls ( yeah). When the phone eventually rang, I couldn't figure out which button to hit to answer....and ring tone was set by the blonde teenager behind the counter...and it reeked of hip-hop-blahblah music. I love the buzz when my messages come through....hmmmm...this new toy will make me smile for a few weeks I think.

Happy Father's Day to my dad:) I decided to post in my own national language...because it doesn't sound so soppy in Malay:)

Touched by a kind gesture

Shortly after 3:00 pm yesterday, I received a call thanking me. What I did not expect, was an overwhelming surge of gratefulness to be reminded that the world has nice people. And you will find it from the least expected sources. This begs the question....what makes some folks nice..and others not so nice?

My other new toy

The Mac has served its purpose. The euphoria of a talk going well, allowed me to indulge in a spot of shopping. Last Sunday, I left the mac shop with this spanking new toy. It looks sleek because it has a belkin black cover and black headphones. To say I love this new gadget would be an understatement:) I can't wait to learn more stuff....and soon.

I have a Mac

Okay, I'm not sure whether I'll be able to list the multiple functions which are better on the Mac compared to the usual pc. Neither can I offer reasons why I decided to defect to the Mac-side. Some things happen, and when it feels effortless and right you don't think twice. Well, this is what happened. I'm now a proud ( although still very clueless ) owner of a Mac aluminium 13" baby. All tips, no matter how elementary are welcomed. I'm waiting....in the meantime. Please wish me luck. The boy who sold me the Mac condescendingly said I should perhaps consider classes to ease the transition. The very nerve!

No pictures yes cos the  card-reader is not compatible with Mac.( DAmmm)

Spotted!

Siti Nurhaliza attending a local wedding in Pahang, drapped in a white psuedo-tudung on the arm of her batik-clad husband.Observers were enthralled with the PRESENCE and poor Siti had to smile through her entire meal as folks took turns standing behind her for a memorable pic. When the very single, very elligible Siti married her aging Datuk K, some folks were outraged by the age disparity and there was a general feeling that Siti could have done much better than this. Pahang is deeply proud of her and it's nice to see Siti mixing with the local folks on a Sunday afternoon in May. ( Note My mother who is only mildly affected by fame and who lives a fairly normal life in the great Malaysian outback features in this picture).
