Where I work!

Sometimes the sun shines just the right amount. And as it shines on HUKM...there's a glow about the place. I was wading through my external hard drive last night and found this picture..taken possibly 2 years ago.

Congress dinner

The conference has ended. And the weekend begins for me. What a lovely surprise we expected a boring sit-down dinner with loads of speeches and boring performances followed by a karaoke session. Instead, as we entered the grand ballroom, there was an aroma of fried kuey teow. BUFFET dinner..with food cooked right in front of you. Yummers!! There were only two speeches and we weren't held back on their account. Midway through dinner, TOURISM Malaysia decided to give us a medley of dances. Quite good and I certainly enjoyed the colours.

Zipangu Shangrila Kuala Lumpur

Previously known as Nadaman, this restaurant has been featured in the list of Malaysia's best restaurant since 1984. The ambience is nice. As you walk into the restaurant you're greeted with rows and rows of liqour on either side lined neatly. We went there for lunch. QUite a crowd but it wasn't noisy. Which was a bonus. I hate noisy restaurants where you have to strain your ears to hear any decent conversation or wear an ear-trumpet.

The only possible complain is the menu devoid of pictures. I'm a visual person by nature certainly when it comes to food..it's nice to know what is in store for you. I don't know much japanese food. Rudimentary stuff ie soba is noodles...and wasabi is the horseradish green paste ( delightful substance) and sushi maki..sushi...with the salmon and other sushi. I had to rely on the waiter ...to pick my lunch.

We didn't see the chef. Presumably he was busy doing what he does best. I had a good lunch. Arigato Chef Yuichi Takagi.

Almost done...

I've reached the juicy bit of this whodunnit:) Savouring it. Don't you just love the exact moment when you're totally entralled with the story line? Well I've reached that stage. Harry potter will just have to wait its turn.

Sambal Belacan

This condiment ensures a yummy meal.
Here's the recipe
1 cawan cili padi
1/4 cawan gula
1/4 cawan garam
1 sudu besar belacan
1 biji tomato
1/2 biji bawang besar
1/2 biji lemon diambil airnya
sedikit air masak
Bakar belacan sehingga garing
Masuk bawang merah
Microwave
Kemudian kisar semua bahan
Siap untuk dihidang.
So maybe this recipe isn't quite write. But the picture looked lonely without some words.

Aaaargh!!

After nearly one year, I have admitted defeat. The sling bag used daily has got to be put to rest. This picture was taken in 2006. It may look simple but the three compartments meant I could put my purse, bunch of car keys, pocket pc and ixus camera in without much problem. Okay so occasionally if the arrangement was wrong..it meant squishing the things in. The trick is to be really organized about it. I miss my ole bag. What am i using now...a new bag of course. It's blue with prints on it. The blue makes it harder to match but who cares....

Obesity on the rise

This is a hotch-potch of food eaten in one setting during one of the many free drug-talk sponsored buffet dinners. Is it any wonder we're not all obese?

Harry potter and the price war in Malaysia

Due to the korean-bug...I decided to stay home the entire morning on Saturday in my jim jams. Was obsessed with finishing the drama series that I decided to leave buying Harry Potter to mid week. I don't read the papers. ( Am shallow that way...) So I was totally oblivious to the price war happening in Malaysia. I did find it odd, when I went to TIMES bookstore in Plaza Damas and found not a single Harry Potter book in sight. The cashier was wearing a harry potter T-shirt. I assumed ( naively ) that the books had been sold out.
It wasn't until a good friend called...to ask whether I knew what the hype was..and offered ( bless her soul ) to buy it for me from TESCO.
MPH, TIMES, POPULAR and HARRIS have decided not to sell the book. Carrefor and Tesco have undercut the market prize selling the deathly hallows at 69.90 instead of 109.90 ringgit. Read it here!

Pari-ui Yeon-In

"Lovers in Paris. " I spent the ENTIRE weekend glued to the tv watching this Korean drama series. Unlike other korean drama series where the girl meets boy and ends up being accepted by the parents eventually, this series had an interesting ending.
